Interfaith Committee

The Interfaith Committee is a dedicated group made up of people of faith that aims to foster collaboration and understanding between faith communities. The committee creates and executes innovative programming that inspires these communities to collaborate on interfaith initiatives, dialogue, and cooperation.

The Interfaith committee oversees the planning and implementation of interfaith programs and initiatives. They collaborate closely with community leaders, faith representatives, and relevant organizations to design events, workshops, seminars, and other activities to facilitate meaningful interfaith interactions.

At Bridges, we hold our volunteers in high regard, recognizing and valuing the time and effort they contribute. To express our deep gratitude, we prioritize the well-being of our volunteers by ensuring they are well taken care of throughout their journey with us. We offer lunches, refreshing snacks, a variety of beverages, and a welcome package.

Interfaith Committee Programs:

Angels and Messengers

The “Angels and Messengers” project aims to foster interfaith dialogue and strengthen community bonds through a series of fireside chats hosted alternately in a mosque, synagogue, and church. The program will bring together an Imam, Rabbi, and Pastor to engage in meaningful discussions on thematic elements that explore religious differences. The project’s purpose is to deepen understanding, build bridges, and promote unity among diverse religious communities.

Potluck Fiesta

The Big Table is a unique, community-driven event set to take place in the fall of 2024, aiming to bring together the diverse and vibrant communities of the Greater Houston area. This event will serve as a platform for fostering connections, encouraging meaningful dialogue, celebrating cultural diversity, and showcasing the richness of our city. It will feature a giant potluck feast, organized community dialogue tables, artistic performances, and competitions, all rooted in the spirit of unity, diversity, and togetherness.

The Grand Iftar

The Grand Iftar is a unique and inclusive event that aims to foster interfaith dialogue, understanding, and unity through a traditional breaking of the fast during the holy month of Ramadan. This event will bring together people of different faith traditions, including Muslims, Christians, and Jews, to celebrate the spirit of unity, diversity, and shared values. Participants will enjoy recitations of the Quran, poetry, and entertaining performances, followed by engaging in meaningful dialogues and sharing a potluck meal representative of their respective cultural traditions.
